Are you a blessing or a curse?

BLESSING OR CURSE

We love to bless and be blessed. We believe in blessings.

Some curse and are cursed. Some believe in curses.

Do you believe in curses? If you do not, then why do you believe in blessings? Is it our belief that makes either blessings or curses work?

Curses are as real as blessings. If we have faith when we curse, that which we curse is accursed indeed. If we have faith when we bless, that which we bless is truly blessed. Be generous so as to bless. Be careful so as not to curse. Be loving so as to be a blessing. Why curse anyway? But Jesus cursed the barren fig tree. He did! It was because, being barren, the fig tree already ceased to be a blessing long before it was cursed. By cursing the fig tree, Jesus brought to consciousness what the fig tree really had already become: a curse.

Be fruitful and be a blessing. Do not be a curse. But we are not fig trees. When we are barren, there is still hope for us to heal and bear fruit in due time. And this is Good News!

Be healed and bear fruit. Bear fruit and bless. To be healed, we need to be cleansed as Jesus cleansed the temple with its maladies for it to be truly what it should be — a house of blessing, never a den of thieves. Be cleansed and be what you should really be. Be what you are truly meant to be and bless others.

To be cleansed, we must pray. Prayer purifies us with the presence of God. This is grace. Pray and be purified. Be in the presence of God and bless others.

To bless, we must love. Love makes us the presence of God in the world. This is virtue. Love and be a blessing. Be the presence of God and bless others.

God's message for me (and for you)

I just discovered today that Jesus wants us to ask -- and not only that, He expects us to ask for the best. I believe our Heavenly Father really wants to shower us with the best.

Plus, I got this message last night. God whispered, "Gratitude has enormous power. It draws into your life the very things you’re grateful for, but in larger, greater, bigger measure.

Open up to abundance,

God

P.S. Kristina, you’ll see great blessings flow into your life like a giant waterfall."

Thank you God. Amen.

The Power of the Mass

At the hour of death the Holy Masses you have heard devoutly will be your greatest consolation.

Every Mass will go with you to Judgment and will plead for pardon for you.

By every Mass you can diminish the temporal punishment due to your sins, more or less, according to your fervour.

By devoutly assisting at Holy Mass you render the greatest homage possible to the Sacred Humanity of Our Lord.

Through the Holy Sacrifice, Our Lord Jesus Christ supplies for many of your negligences and omissions.

He forgives you all the venial sins which you are determined to avoid. He forgives you all your unknown sins which you never confessed. The power of Satan over you is diminished.

By piously hearing Holy Mass you afford the Souls in Purgatory the greatest possible relief.

Through Holy Mass you are preserved from many dangers and misfortunes which would otherwise have befallen you. You shorten your Purgatory by every Mass.

Through the Holy Mass you are blessed in your temporal goods and affairs..

When you hear Holy Mass devoutly, offering it to Almighty God in honour of any particular Saint or Angel, thanking God for the favours bestowed on him, etc., you afford that Saint or Angel a new degree of honour, joy and happiness, and draw his special love and protection on yourself.

Every time you assist at Holy Mass, besides other intentions, you should offer it in honor of the Saint of the day.

"The Mass is the most perfect form of prayer!"
~Pope Paul VI~

For each Mass we hear with devotion, Our Lord sends a saint to comfort us at death.
~revelation of Christ to St. Gertrude the Great~

Once, St. Teresa was overwhelmed with God's Goodness and asked Our Lord "How can I thank you?" Our Lord replied, "ATTEND ONE MASS."

The Blessed Virgin Mary once told Her faithful servant Alain: "My Son so loves those who assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass that, if it were necessary He would die for them as many times as they've heard Masses."

"The Holy Mass would be of greater profit if people had it offered in their lifetime, rather than having it celebrated for the relief of their souls after death."
~Pope Benedict XV~

A great doctor of the Church, St. Anselm, declares that a single Mass offered for oneself during life may be worth more than a thousand celebrated for the same intention after death. St. Leonard of Port Maurice supports this statement by saying that one Mass before death may be more profitable than many after it.

"When we receive Holy Communion, we experience something extraordinary - a joy, a fragrance, a well being that thrills the whole body and causes it to exalt."
~ Saint Jean Vianney~

"The celebration of Holy Mass is as valuable as the death of Jesus on the cross."
~Saint Thomas Aquinas~

"If we really understood the Mass, we would die of joy."
~ Saint Jean Vianney~

"There is nothing so great as the Eucharist. If God had something more precious, He would have given it to us."
~ Saint Jean Vianney~

"It would be easier for the world to survive without the sun than to do without Holy Mass. "
~St. Pio of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio), stigmatic priest~

"When we have been to Holy Communion, the balm of love envelops the soul as the flower envelops the bee."
~ Saint Jean Vianney~

"The heavens open and multitudes of angels come to assist in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. "
~Saint Gregory~

"The angels surround and help the priest when he is celebrating Mass."
~ St. Augustine ~

"When Mass is being celebrated, the sanctuary is filled with countless angels who adore the divine victim immolated on the altar."
~ St. John Chrysostom~

Dear Kristina,

Success doesn’t teach you much. But failure teaches you your most important
lessons of victory. Success makes you complacent. Failure makes you
teachable.  Success makes you stubborn. Failure, if you learn its lessons,
makes you win.

Me,
God

P.S. Failure isn’t my rejection, Kristina.  Failure is my redirection.

Do you want to be well?

“Do you want to be well?”
“Look, you are well; do not sin any more, so that nothing worse may happen to you.”
- Jesus

Yes, Lord Jesus, like the crippled man, I want to be well.
Thank you Jesus for the gift of healing and the forgiveness of my sins that comes from your Grace.
Thank you also for the reminder to avoid sin in the future so that my healing will be complete and so that I may also avoid worse conditions. This I ask, in Jesus' name. Amen.
Thank you Jesus! Praise you Jesus!

Let us learn to grow in our appreciation of the various rich traditions of our Christian and Catholic faith. But let this religiosity not blur our vision of the cornerstone: Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Crucified and Risen One. Only in His Name is there salvation, power and wisdom.

In your prayer today, focus on Jesus: His person, His fullness as God-Man, the total Mystery of His Incarnation and Paschal Sacrifice. Just repeat the holy Name: “Jesus… Jesus…Jesus…Jesus…” Experience how to abandon your cares and anxieties to Him.

Lord Jesus Christ, You are the focal point and the essence of my belief. Don’t let the miracles and other blessings You send my way distract me from this fact.

A Christ-less cross is incorrect but a cross-less Christ is a lie.

This fascinates me to no end. And I don't think it's just mere coincidence that my thoughts were centered around the Holy Cross and Jesus last night.

God does have a way of answering questions even before you ask them. In the same way that He answers prayers even before they are uttered. For that, I am forever grateful. Because in this adventure we call life, doubts may surface, our past may hound us, questions may never end, but one thing remains constant -- God's call for us to remain steadfast in our faith.

And so I share with you God's message, sent via email by http://www.kerygmafamily.com/

You have the opportunity to receive God's Word every single day. I shared today's Gospel in a previous post. This is the reflection. And here's the message as promised:

CRUX CUM CORPUS, CRUX CUM CHRISTUS

There is a devotion of some well-meaning Catholics that disturb me. It is the devotion to the holy cross without a corpus (body). The body is, of course, the body of Christ.
When I was assigned pastor of the Holy Cross Parish in Makati, I had to endure persecution when I started implementing a directive I received from the Archdiocese of Manila concerning the community’s center of devotion. The cross enshrined at the altar of the parish church was a Christ-less cross! I was instructed to correct that. I needed so much patience, courage and determination to accomplish the task. It was sad because many of those who objected
to correcting the Christ-less cross were the so-called lay church leaders. By the grace of God, the Holy Cross Parish now has a life-size image of the Crucified Christ. Their devotion to the Holy Cross remains, but no longer to a Christ-less cross.
I am assigned now to a chapel named after the holy cross, too. And I am happy to note upon my arrival that theirs is a cross with the Crucified Christ.
Why do some people focus more on the cross at the expense of Christ? Why do they devote themselves to the cross but not to the Crucified instead?
Why is there so much fanaticism surrounding the cross? Yet, when we talk about the cross in the form of problems, sickness, persecutions and the like, people run away at first sight.
Who wants such a cross anyway? We do not want a cross without Jesus. We want the cross of Jesus instead. And certainly, that means more than just affixing a body on the cross. It means carrying our cross the way Jesus carried His and, if needed, being crucified on our cross for the same reasons Jesus was crucified on His. Uniting our sufferings with that of Christ’s is one way of accomplishing this. Enduring persecutions on account of the Gospel of Jesus with great love and sincere humility fulfills this at its best.
The One who was crucified on the cross at Calvary always tells the truth: persecution knocking on the door of His followers is not only a normal thing, but must likewise be expected. When they knock, may we be found faithful to the One Crucified.  Fr. Bobby Titco

Reflection Question:
A Christ-less cross is incorrect but a cross-less Christ is a lie.

Lord Jesus, the glorious Crucified One, I adore You, for by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world. Amen.

St. Wiro, pray for us.

Today's Gospel -- on being Jesus' disciples

John 15:18-21
18 Jesus said to his disciples: “If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you. 20 Remember the word I spoke to you, ‘No slave is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. 21 And they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me.”

Thank You Jesus!

Dear Lord Jesus,

First of all, I am ever so grateful for Your boundless LOVE for us Lord Jesus. Thank You so much for saving all of us, especially me. I saw Your eyes in church today and they reflected sorrow and pain beyond comprehension, which brought tears into my eyes.

I don't know how I could ever make up for all my sins, for my weaknesses and for the many times that I have reopened Your wounds because of my thoughtless disregard of my promises to You. But if ever I need to remind myself of how much You love us, I only have to look into Your eyes Lord Jesus.

It pains me to know that our sins have caused You sorrow but at the same time my heart leaps for joy when I think of our future with You. For the first time in my life, it struck me as odd why I sometimes act out, like an immature child, when in fact You are always there. It still boggles my mind how even though I see You on the Holy Cross every single day, I have come to take that for granted. It shames me to no end Lord Jesus and I have no words to defend myself, so I won't even try.

Instead, I will thank You daily and Praise Your Holy Name. Thank you Jesus for being my Savior, my Brother, my Friend. Please forgive me for what I have done and what I have failed to do. Please guide me every single day so that I may walk with You in me. Thank you so much for all the blessings you have showered upon me.

May there be more of You and less of me Lord Jesus. I surrender only to you Lord Jesus. Hallelujah to the Lamb. Amen.

Love one another -- Jesus -- our Lord and Savior, our Brother

John 15:12-17
12 Jesus said to his disciples: “This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. 13 No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father. 16 It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you. 17 This I command you: love one another.”

Jesus loves us... pass it on!

John 15:9-11
9 Jesus said to his disciples: “As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. 11 “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.”
