I am grateful - thank you God for my birthday (and everything else)

I am grateful

because it's my birthday today.

...some people don't even get to celebrate their birthday.

my mother may no longer be with me but I am grateful for our memories together. I love the way we used to visit almost every church during the most unusual times. I love the way we used to tour the latest restaurants, when they open and watch movies almost twice a week. I love the way she would call me 'Gunggong Mama'. I miss that. I miss everything about her. Her kindness, her positive spin on everything, her jokes about my spending habits. lol. I miss her wisdom, she always knew what to say when I needed advice. I love her free spirit and extroverted nature, she showed me that life is wonderful and I shouldn't take it too seriously. I miss Mama. Seriously! But I am grateful.

...some children don't even have a mother to take care of them.

my father may not be here to give me a bear hug and buy me cake and ice cream and wish me buon compleanno in person. But I have a great father. He gives me great advice. He comforts me when I'm down, when I'm scared, when I'm tired, bone-weary. He laughs with me when I am happy. We share silly moments even over the phone.

...some children grow up without a father too.

my health may not be perfect but still I am grateful. I appreciate those moments of laughter and I understand now why we have to grieve. I know things won't always be perfect but I also know that I am loved, and I am blessed. I may fight my true nature at times but I know that God knows me inside and out. I know He's waiting for me to allow myself to be enfolded in His glorious arms. And I know that He is always there in the people I live with everyday, my family. We may not be complete but I am grateful. Because God has been so kind to all of us.

...some people have cancer and AIDS and other horrible illnesses, yet they deal with it.

...some people don't talk with their families.

...some people literally turn away from God.

That's why I will always be grateful. Because I know that in spite of everything, no, because of everything that God has given me and my family, we have become stronger. And so have I. I am grateful because even though I am in my 30's and single, I am no longer scared of being alone. Tables have turned today, and I know that I will always have friends, no matter how old I will be. So I am grateful and I look forward to more birthdays. I look up and see God. I look around and see God. I see Him in all of His glorious creation and that's why I'm grateful.

Trials may come but I say 'bring it on!' With God by my side, I know that all things are possible. That's His promise to all of us and that's why I am grateful. And inspired. And blessed. Thank you Jesus! I love you Lord! I will praise Your name forever. Amen.

And God Whispered...

Dear Kristina,

When I saw you, it was love at first sight. Or should I say love at first thought. Because you were a mere thought when I loved you already.

Deeply,
God

P.S. Kristina, no matter what you do, you can never make me not love you.
Don't even try. It'll be a waste of time.

You Can Make Your Life Beautiful

Rating:★★★★★
Category:Books
Genre: Religion & Spirituality
Author:Bo Sanchez
You Can Make Your Life Beautiful is one of the most heart-warming, inspiring, uplifting books I have ever read. I was laughing for the most part but one chapter really tugged at my hearstrings and brought tears to my eyes. (I’m sorry for your loss Bo. I believe what you wrote is true, Angel is talking about you and her lovely Mom all the time. I know she’s making God very happy, and that’s such a joy.)

You Can Make Your Life Beautiful is such an amazing gift for everyone. It’s message is simple yet it left me with conflicting emotions – a sense of peace and a yearning to do more. Perhaps spend more time with my family and friends, or make someone, just one person happy today, or spend quality time with the Lord. The seeds are there, firmly planted. My next step is to nurture those seeds and plant seeds of love in my own backyard, in my family. Amazing what a book can do, right? That’s how enthused I get whenever I read a good book, especially an inspiring one. It spurs me into action. And it inspires me to write too.

A Book Review

I really enjoy reading Bo’s books because aside from the fact that he keeps his chapters really short, he has a marvelous sense of humour without taking away from his message – that God loves all of us equally and He wants all of us to be happy. It’s that simple. And I love being reminded of the fact that our God is a happy, loving, forgiving God, who wants the best for us, no matter how bad we are or no matter how bad things get.

He is a source of Love, happiness and strength and His presence in our lives never wavers. It’s such a comfort to know that God will always be there, and that we can do something about our lives with him as our center. I’ve always had trouble surrendering my life to God because I get tied down with semantics and material things sometimes, that I forget that we have a greater purpose. This book is a gentle reminder that our life is how we choose it to be. And that is good enough for me.

I choose to be happy and I choose to let go because I know God will take care of me and He will take care of the rest of us. God is a happy God. Ain’t that grand? And it is true. God does answer prayers His own way. Even unsaid prayers, he gives to us. Patience truly is a virtue that is of divine origin. And, from what I’ve read, so is obedience, humility, prudence, temperance. In His Time.

I guess the main lesson I’ve learned from this book, which I could not stop reading, is this – how our life turns out is our choice. We can choose to live a beautiful life, with God’s help and guidance, or we can choose to turn away from Him and be miserable. If there’s one thing that I’ve learned from this book which I can also relate to my own life, it’s that God still has a way of bringing us back to His warm embrace, though pain, trials and sufferings may lead us away from Him. Truly, He is a faithful God, a Loving God and I am glad to be part of his flock.

Thank you Lord for your guidance. My life is beautiful because of you. I am sorry for those times when I have caused you pain. Lord Jesus, you will always be my God, my Savior, my Lord, my King and my Friend. Thank you for this book. I learned new things today. Hurray! Yes, I will make my life beautiful, and I hope to make other people’s life a bit more beautiful too, in Jesus’ name. Praise you Lord Jesus. Amen.

Be Consistently Aggressive in Reaching for your Goals

Be Consistently Aggressive in Reaching for your Goals

Be Aggressive – Jesus was aggressive in giving His life for us.

Make up your mind! Be decisive! Greater Works! Be Diligent!

2 Types of People’s Wealth Mindset:

1. I wish to be wealthy.
2. I commit to be wealthy.

Barriers:
1. Haciendero Complex - always relying on someone else for help during emergency situations.
2. Fatalistic/'Bahala na' Attitude - leaving everything up to chance.
3. Lotto Mindset - hoping to become millionaires or waiting for things to fall into your lap.
4. MaƱana Habit/Procrastination - leaving things that could've been done today for tomorrow.
5. Crab Mentality - dragging successful people down.

Note: Share in the joy and success of other people or else success will go away from you.

7 Steps to Become Aggressive Toward Your Goals:

1. The Law of Clarity – Be clear about your dreams – the more precise you are about your dreams, the quicker they turn into reality. Write down your dreams. Imagine the future –> what you want to happen in your life. Tell God what you want to happen in your life. Know what you want and imagine it!

2. The Law of Focus – Focus on one thing. Do only one thing.

3. The Law of Intensity – Be passionate about your goals.

4. The Law of Action – difference between decision and action!

5. The Law of Hustle – looking for the open door. Not giving up until you reach your goal.

6. The Law of Gestation – waiting period – Don’t give up! Persevere! Wait for the right time! Prepare!
Your dreams have a gestation period. Success is 90% preparation and 10% action. Luck is the meeting of preparation with opportunity.

7. The Law of Integrity – being aggressive because of the pure motive of love. Being aggressive and being loving!

I'm sharing some of the lessons I've learned from one of Bo's inspiring talks about maintaining a healthy attitude towards reaching for your goals. I hope this helps you reach your dreams.

How to Get your Dream Job -- A Simple Guide Part II

Your job or your business is God’s call for you; it is a manifestation of His will in your life. When you use your core gifts to serve others and continue to develop your gifts, you will have fun as you go along. Reach for your dreams. All it takes is the right amount of courage, determination, skills and confidence in yourself and in your gifts. Your innate talent and passion for your chosen field will take you places. As long as you love what you do you'll go places.

Keep your eye on the prize – Focus on your short-term goals while keeping your long-term goals in mind. That will help you realize your dreams.
Preparation is your key to success – Now that you know what you want out of life and how to get there, the next step is to get ready for action!
Look for mentors – They’re out there, willing to teach you and guide you towards reaching your goals. You will find links in this website where you can choose experts in your chosen field who can and will help you improve your core gifts.
Do your research – Know your chosen field inside out. Know your core gifts and develop them every single day. Research is important because it gives you a better picture of what it takes to succeed. If possible, find a niche, something you’re good at and stick with it.
Be consistent and be persistent – Explore all avenues, pursue your desired field, and stick to your goals. When you meet hurdles, rise to the challenge and keep going. Review your dreams, let your imagination run free and you’ll stay motivated.

Sometimes employers may say “No, thank you!” but that’s ok. Rejection may hurt but don’t let that be the end of the road for you. You may encounter roadblocks but don’t let that destroy your dreams. Instead, let it spur you into action, let your creativity grow and soon enough you’ll see so many open doors and possibilities. Just keep at it, after all, there’s no harm in trying. Be aggressive, but in a good way. Go for your dreams and you’ll be rewarded.

And whenever you step out for an interview or try something new, say a little prayer a
think positive! J

Why Do You Need a Great Resume?

Your Resume is your “Introduction” to your future employer. It’s the first thing they read when searching for the best candidates for any given job so you need to impress them “at first sight”. Your resume must contain more than the usual personal, educational, and work information. It has to shine.

Employers know what they want – employees who are not just skilled and talented but also have great character. They want people who are willing to go the distance for their company. They need people whose loyalty is tried and tested, determined to succeed and contribute to the company’s success, can work well with a team or on their own, are self-starters, motivated and adept at problem solving.

Employers’ needs may vary, depending on the company and the position that you are applying for, but one thing remains the same, they want people with character, integrity and honesty. They want people who are dependable, diligent, and equipped with the right skills needed for that position.

People skills matter too. So does experience. For most companies, experience count the most. However, even if you’re a fresh graduate with little or no experience, no need to fret. Just be honest when it comes to your educational background. Focus on your successes, whether in academic or extra curricular activities. Share your experiences with organizations, showcase your leadership skills; these will make your resume shine.

Volunteer work can be one way to make your resume stand out among the rest. Volunteer work shows the employers that you are well-grounded, can commit to a project or long-term work, and it also shows that you are open to new challenges and experiences and building character. Volunteer work also helps a person grow so you’re bound to catch employers’ eyes.

This is how Pinoy Dream Builders can help you. Our common goal is to get you that job you’ve always wanted, and get you hired on the spot.
